About An Dochas:
Gaelic for “The Hope,” specializes in Irish music with a World beat. Formed in the late summer of 2001, this five-piece musical ensemble from Colville, Washington, fuses Irish music with other genres ranging from rock to jazz. A driving rhythm section of guitar, bass, and drums supports an array of traditional instruments including the Uilleann pipes, whistles, Bodhrán, and fiddle. With a strong instrumental base, the band integrates some vocal numbers of both comic and serious nature. Using traditional and original music in their sets to accompany strong, hard-hitting Irish dancing, An Dóchas provides an energetic and uplifting performance that appeals to audiences of all ages and musical preferences.
On the road, An Dóchas travels with a select few dancers. Two of the dancers have recently qualified and competed in the World championships and three of them have traveled to Japan and Austria to perform. |
