Waslyk was born Phillip Garcia in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1977. His father, Greg, was in the Air Force so his family moved about every four years from the northwestern states to Spain and England. Waslyk has lived in Spokane, WA off and on since 1993.
Waslyk's life was nearly ruined with drug dealing and jail time until he decided he needed to know if God was more than just stoner philosophical debate. The name "Waslyk" is Phillip's way of honoring God for changing him from what his life was like. That life was filled with anger, disappointment, and emptiness. It's not unusual for young people to feel neglected or misunderstood these days. We have all the information we can get our hands on but very little showing us how to build real long lasting relationships. As the Bible puts it, "many teachers and not many fathers". Waslyk's grandfather left his grandmother before his father, Greg, was born. Waslyk's dad made leaps and bounds on what little was demonstrated for him yet like most young men, Walsyk tried to find his identity in other people instead of the God who handcrafted him and every other human being on the planet.
Waslyk's story is of a man who used his gifts on a very small scale to being a man who watched those same gifts take him to places he never dreamed. The sky is the limit and whether or not people accept it, his mission is to see others get the same opportunity he has had to simply open themselves up to the possibilities. For Waslyk, it took having people around him who believed in him. The truth is, in many ways, he's even seen himself surpass what others believed were possible. This is the truth and Waslyk will keep going with his wife and kids to bring some balance to the entertainment industry.
